Success for Checkpoint at this year’s RBTE

Sense + Respond, Evolve-Store and RFID-based fresh meat solutions

 showcased at RBTE

 

March 2016 – Checkpoint Systems, a leading global supplier of merchandise availability solutions to the retail industry, showcased three of its solutions at this year’s Retail Business Technology Expo 2016 (RBTE). As well as demonstrating its latest innovations, the company’s RFID-based fresh meat solution was a finalist in the event’s Innovation Trail and Awards.

 

Checkpoint’s RFID-based fresh meat solution was one of the 16 entries shortlisted for the RBTE Innovation Trail and Awards chosen from more than 80 entries, and featured on the ‘Winners Wall’ at the event. The entries were reviewed by a judging panel of experts, including Kamal Bal, head of online performance at Marks & Spencer (M&S); Lorna Beament, marketplace manager at The Dune Group; and Richard Jenkins, head of RFID programme at M&S among others. We would like to thank each member of the judging panel for taking the time to select the finalists from the numerous entries received.

 

The innovative solution has been developed to help European retailers reduce the €14.8bn they lose each year due to meat spoilage. During a recent pilot, a US retailer found it was able to reduce fresh meat replenishment time, decrease the time staff spent replenishing expired meat, reduce meat waste and increase sales.

 

Also on display was the new Sense + Respond software, developed in collaboration with Microsoft Corp. The cloud-based merchandise visibility platform combines OAT Foundation Suite and Microsoft Azure Cloud Solutions, providing multi-channel retailers with a flexible, fast deployment approach to gather real-time insights and predictive analytics. The solution will advance operational proficiency, improve supply chain agility and optimise last-mile delivery through real-time inventory transparency and order fulfilment process automation.

 

Evolve-Store was also showcased at RBTE. The solution enables retailers to measure and improve consumer conversion rates through real-time visibility of the number of shoppers in stores. It also measures policy compliance by managing response times to alarm events.  By monitoring, measuring and managing an EAS program, retailers can deter opportunistic shoplifters and organised retail crime activity, reducing shrink and increasing shelf availability, sales and profits.
